626Sampler San Diego: SOLD OUT!
The 626Sampler came back for another round at 626 Night Market’s second San Diego pop-up this season, featuring a new set of four unique vendors. For $19.99, attendees got the chance to try out All Dat Dumpling, TWNS Chicken, Papa’s Polvoron, and Boba Bestie. The sampler pass was a popular addition to the Night Market, providing about 400 people an affordable way to try out new foods and explore 626NM’s newest location.
The effort was once again coordinated by Special Projects Staff, Bernadette Velasco.
All Dat Dumpling
All Dat Dumpling’s uniqueness comes from their signature House Special Sauce: a multipurpose, soy-sauce-based condiment that balances garlicky, spicy, and nutty flavors with a hint of sweetness and tang. It works wonders on just about anything, but it certainly has a home in the savory pork and shrimp wontons, which were featured in this edition of the 626Sampler. All Dat Dumpling’s twist on traditional dim sum made for a perfect mini meal to start the pass.
TWNS Crispy Chicken
TWNS Crispy Chicken is a Taiwanese snack booth that prides itself on its authenticity. For the sampler, they offered a 6oz version of their boneless Taiwanese chicken cutlet. The golden-brown cutlet was crunchy on the outside, juicy in the middle, and sprinkled in an attendee’s choice of seasoning: original, cajun, salt pepper, and lemon pepper. TWNS’ offering definitely brought the taste of the alleys and markets of Taiwan to San Diego and sampler attendees.
Papa’s Polvoron
Featuring passed-down family recipes and a deep love for home-cooked pastries, Papa’s Polvoron creates an assortment of buttery, sweet, Filipino shortbread cookies. These soft, crumbly baked goods melt in your mouth and are a perfect balance to the sweeter drink that it is paired with in this sampler. Best part – you could choose any 4 flavors of your choice, and at Papa’s Polvoron, there were unique combinations that you could not get elsewhere, such as their best-selling ube delight, toffee crunch, and cookies n cream, and butter pecan.
Boba Bestie
As a returner to the sampler pass, Boba Bestie continued to charm attendees with their reliably-delicious milk and fruit teas. The cold, sweet 16oz fruit teas – with one topping of an attendee’s choice – helped to alleviate the San Diego heat and energize people after the heavier sampler items.
If this sampler line-up has you craving more, be on the look-out for our next 626Sampler in Arcadia, August 23-25 and August 30-September 1!
